About me
Writer-director Ben Ryder began his career in production on Oscar-winning features including Les Misérables and The Theory of Everything, later serving as assistant to acclaimed filmmaker Ritesh Batra.
Across his narrative work, Ben blends character-driven comedy with razor-sharp, high-stakes tension. His Kafkaesque dark comedy, Mrs Kaye, won Best Film at the Ayr International Short Film Festival and Best Cinematography at the Durham Film Festival. His latest short, Puddles, a tense comedy exploring gender stereotypes and motherhood, was nominated for Best Director and Best Comedy Actress at the Greenwich Film Festival and Best Comedy at the Ignite Film Festival, alongside official selections at the BIFA-qualifying Sunderland and Crystal Palace Film Festivals. He currently has two dark comedy feature films in development.
Alongside his filmmaking, Ben has spent eight years directing social-first content and commercial campaigns for leading brands and D2Cs like lululemon, Wild and Crew Clothing. Extending that expertise to creative and social strategy, he also delivers training workshops and consultancy for one of the world’s biggest marketers Unilever.
